Country Description
Tunisia's beautiful beaches and historical treasures attract divers from all over the world. It's worth noting that American and most European tourists do not require visas to enter Tunisia. There are more than 700 hotels in the country so accommodation is never a problem! Tunisia has seven international airports, and eight passenger ports connecting it to the United States and Europe. Tunis, The capital city, is a mere two-hour flight from Paris and London and a fifty- minute flight from Rome.
For divers there are vast stretches of glistening white sandy beaches covering over 800 miles of coast. Beach resorts include Tabarka, Hammamet, Sousse and the unmissable village of Sidi Bou Said with its unique scenery of domes, arched doors and balconies in blue and white set against a sparkling sea.
There is history all around you in Tunisia. Punic and Roman archaeological sites can be visited in Carthage – home to Hannibal - and other historical areas around the country. The Bardo Museum, near Tunis, boasts the largest collection of Roman mosaics in the world.
