Scuba Diving Holidays In St. Lucia
Corals, caves and volcanic pinnacles - St. Lucia offers excellent diving as well as wonderful tropical scenery.
Country Description
Famed for its beauty, St. Lucia is dominated by its Pitons,
two huge steep faced pinnacles that rise from sea level
to 750 and 960 meters respectively. They are in fact
larva plugs of an ancient volcano. The island is covered
in dense tropical rain forest, which boasts stunning
scenery, waterfalls and a breathtaking array of wildlife.
The beaches too are excellent.
Diving Description
St. Lucia surpasses much of the Caribbean thanks to its
breathtaking underwater scenery and profusion of marine
life.
Dive sites
Soufriere
Situated just beneath the Pitons, this area has marine
park status and offers breathtaking scenery of steep
sloping walls and a line of life-covered pinnacles. Coral
growth here is so prolific that it is hard to see the
rocks beneath. The area is also full of fish filled gullies.
A small fee is charged for diving in the marine park, but
it is worth it.
Anse Chastanet Marine Park
The site of outstanding coral, an excellent cave, steep
walls and breathtaking fish life. Thanks to the variation
of undersea habitat found here (every kind of Caribbean
habitat) the area boasts most life forms, form peacock
flounders to barracuda.
Other info
St. Lucia offers excellent facilities as it is well geared
up to the tourist trade. Don't stick to the tourist
attractions however, as there is much to see in this Caribbean
paradise.
