Scuba Diving Holidays In Bermuda
Come to Bermuda for unrivalled wreck diving on the ships that have fallen foul of the fabled 'triangle'.
Country Description
With only 20 inhabited islands among a collection of 150
Bermuda is the oldest surviving British Crown Colony,
however due to its reputation for being expensive it
hasn't been a popular destination for Brit divers.
however there are cheap guesthouses and the cost of living
compares well to other countries in the Americas. Of
course Bermuda is famous for the myths and legends surrounding
the so-called 'Triangle'. But it also promises
great diving.
Diving Description
Bermuda boasts the northern most coral in the world thanks
to the warm Gulf Stream that lifts the temperatures of
the waters. Diving here promises spectacular, pristine
reef formations that attract a great number of fish species.
The area is also renowned for its many ship wrecks many
if which have been broken up by heavy storms. Bermuda’s government aggressively protects both
the coral and the wrecks,
Diving Sites
The huge selection of shipwrecks can be overwhelming
for the diver, but the most famous is the Constellation,
which inspired Peter Benchley's book The Deep. The others wrecks range from passenger liners to old wooden
sailing ships, which include the Marine Celestia, a Confederate warship and Bermuda’s largest, wreck
Crystal Colon.
Bermuda's newest wreck is the purposefully sank Xing
Da, which was a Chinese ship caught bringing illegal immigrants
into the US.
